As many of you know from following my twitter feed, I spent the last two days exploring Yosemite National Park. It was my first visit to the park, which is crazy because its only an 8 hr drive from Vegas. I really loved it there. I’m constantly amazed at the magnificence of our planet Earth. I’ve been lucky to visit so many amazing far off places but, really, I have so many spectacular locales close to me–The Grand Canyon, Death Valley, Yosemite, Tahoe, etc.
In Yosemite I hiked from Glacier Point 4.5 miles down (and about 4,000 ft down) into the Yosemite Valley floor. It was a breathtaking hike, one you definitely can’t be scared of heights for! I loved that we could see the Merced river flowing waaaay down below because I knew that the next day we’d be rafting it. We stopped mid-way for lunch overlooking the Valley and then continued on our way. I love hiking and I go frequently to Red Rock Canyon in Vegas but, I’ve never hiked straight down for hours and hours. My legs experienced some new sensations and they are fucking sore! I’ll need a massage in a couple of days but right now, I couldn’t handle someone rubbing my calves and quads! [You can PAY for my massage, of course. You're welcome.]
On day two of my trip, my bf and I went rafting down a little 3 mile stretch of the Merced River, with views of the famed Half Dome, North Dome, and Yosemite Falls drifting by. It was really fun and relaxing and, of course, the views were unrivaled!
Here are some pics from my trip:
I had so much fun in Yosemite, I will definitely be going back! There’s so much to explore there, really.
Anyway, last night we headed west to San Francisco, checked into our hotel on Snob Hill and met up with friends for drinks downtown! Today, I’m lounging, catching up on “work” and looking forward to another fab day on vacation!
