So. As you all know, in August I spent 17 amazing days on a once-in-a-lifetime European vacation! I’ve been so busy since I’ve been back that I forgot to post a blog about it! A few fans begged for pics this week so I thought I’d finally throw you losers a bone. I know you love to live vicariously through me (or my boyfriend more likely) and I also know you love to see all the cool shit your money is contributing to when you fork it over.
It started out in Paris. J’adore Paris! I speak a bit of French and really got to use it. I loved that. I celebrated my birthday in Paris over a fab dinner with my boyfriend and the waiters and fellow patrons even sang “Joyeux Anniversaire” to me while I blew out the candle in my tarte tatin. It was perfect!
Next we went to Belgium. Chocolates, waffles, and beer. It rocked.
Then on to Amsterdam! Legal pot smoking, bicycles galore, hookers coyly waving at me from beyond glass doors in the alleyway, and more beer. Van Gogh. Stroopwaffle. It was fucking amazing.
A couple days later and I was in Berlin! The wall. The parks. The currywurst!
Then we boated over to Denmark. Copenhagen was a pleasant surprise. Impeccable design everywhere. Tall, hot, blonde people. Serene, shimmering canals.
Sweden. We went all over Sweden, actually. Stockholm was urban and cool. Other areas were quaint & beautiful.
Latvia & Estonia. Yummy food. Interesting post-Soviet-trying-to-get-our-shit-together emerging cultures.
Then it was off to Russia for a few days. We went to Moscow & St. Petersburg. Russia was like a junkie hooker whose pic was snapped and heavily photoshopped. Doesn’t make sense? Go there & experience it for yourself. I thought Russia was going to be scary. It wasn’t. I ate caviar (even though I don’t like it) & drank vodka. I went to the Kremlin, Red Square, Hermitage… you know, made the tourist rounds!
And then, Finland! I’ve never said to myself, “Man, I just really want to go to Finland!” but, hey, we were nearby and I’m very glad to have made the trek over there. I’m not Finnish (though I am Swedish, Norwegian, Belgian, and French) but, I felt like in Finland, I was home! Everyone was tall, thin, hot, and blond (like ME!). Everyone had impeccable fashion taste. The streets were clean. The scenery was gorgeous. It’s too bad those Scandinavian countries get so damn cold otherwise I would seriously want to relocate. Sure, they pay the highest taxes in the world but they also rank highest on the “happy index,” have the best health care, highest rates of education, highest standards of living, and really fucking cute clothes and sexy tall blonde guys.
I will close this blog post with a quote from my boyfriend:
“I like to take once-in-a-lifetime vacation several times a year.”
